Today we are going to talk about SHRM Certification as it looks in As you will see, the momentum is gaining and the SHRM Certification has become well known around the world. Professionals who earn their SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential are recognized as experts and leaders in the HR field – a valuable asset to their organization. Eligibility & Inclusivity To be eligible to sit for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP exam, you must meet specific educational and work experience criteria at the time you submit your application. These requirements are: This chart shows the eligibility for taking the exam. It is a combination of education and experience. Across the top, you will see the breakdown of education levels. Going down the left side, you will focus on which exam you are interested in. Based on your particular situation, follow the vertical and horizontal lines to where the two points meet, you will then see the eligibility requirement for you to take the exam. Eligibility requirements minimize barriers to participation and reflect current HR roles. Regardless of your job title, FLSA exempt or non-exempt status, geographic location, industry or organization size, if you perform HR duties, you have the opportunity to become certified. Additionally, the SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP exams are affordable! The application fee is $300 for SHRM members and $400 for non SHRM members. Each year, the exam windows are at the same time. The Spring exam window is from May 1 to July 15th. The Winter exam window is from December 1- February 15 of the following year. Here you see the 2019 exam window application dates. For the Spring 2019 window, applications start being accepted January 2. The regular deadline is March 22 and the late application deadline is April 12. So far, we’ve covered the value of SHRM Certification and information on applying for and how to prepare for the exam. Let’s say you take the exam and successfully attain the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP credential – CONGRATULATIONS! You’ve just received your certificate and pin from SHRM (usually within 4-6 weeks) in recognition of your achievement – but what happens next? What do you need to do to maintain your credential?

24 3 years to recertify! Recertification Requirements
Recertification will be required every three years. Professionals will need to earn 60 professional development credits (PDCs) in order to recertify. Recertification Application Fee: SHRM Members = $100 USD Nonmembers = $150 USD There is a requirement to recertify every three years. Once you are certified, it is important for you to stay up to date in your competencies and to keep the credential relevant. To recertify, you need to earn 60 Professional Development Credits (PDCs) within each three year recertification period. From the date you took the test and passed, you have three years + to the end of your birth month, to be recertified. Let’s take a look at a couple of examples . . . Qualifying Credit-Earning Activities: To recertify, you need to earn 60 Professional Development Credits (PDCs) within each three year recertification period. You can recertify in several categories: Advance Your Education, Advance Your Organization and Advance Your Profession “Advance Your Education” activities typically include conferences, seminars, chapter education sessions. There is no maximum number of PDCs you can earn via self-paced (not instructor-led) activities such as e-learning, videoconferences, webcasts, etc. Next, let’s take a look at the “Advance Your Organization” activities you can do
