14. Commonly Confused Words: Accept vs. Except
These two English words are sometimes confused by native speakers. Please accept my invitation to learn the difference with this lesson.
Accept (verb) to receive, admit, regard as true, or say yes to something
Except (preposition) excluding
             (conjunction) if not for the fact that; other than
             (verb) to leave out; exclude   THIS USAGE IS UNCOMMON 
Examples:
     I can’t accept this gift.
     He bought a gift for everyone except me. (preposition)
     I would help you, except I’m too busy.  (conjunction) 
     Mom, please do not except my friends in other mini schools when you send out invitations to my party.  (verb) 
***When trying to remember the difference between the two words, recall this sentence: I accept that my friends love everything about me except  for my tendency to get "hangry" right before lunch.***

15. Commonly Confused Words: Loose vs. Lose
Many people confuse lose and loose. In particular, many people write loose when they really mean lose. Here are the definitions of the two words from the Penguin dictionary: loose (adjective) not fastened or pre-packed; not tied up or confined; able to move freely; not tight, not firmly fixed; not close-fitting lose (verb) to no longer have; to fail to find; to fail to get or win; to suffer loss Examples: This knot is too loose. Please do not lose my book. I had better not lose that file. ***One way to remember the difference between the two words is to think that lose has lost an 'o'.***
