O’Donnell’s Tidbits April 2nd- 6th Upcoming Items: April 5th: Spring picture day April 5th: 4th Grade Music Program at 7PM April 6th: Focused on Friends April 9th: Report cards home in red folders April 19th, 23rd, 24th- Reading MCA April 20th- TWIN day! April 25th- Early Release April 30th, May 1st, 2nd- Math MCA May 11th- 4th Grade Track and Field Day from 9:30-12:00 May 18th- Outdoor Learning Field Trip to the HS May 14th- Energy Park Field Trip Math: This week we will continue our DECIMAL unit. We will be plotting decimals on a number line, rounding decimals, comparing decimals to money, adding and subtracting decimals, and solving word problems about decimals. The decimal test is not until next Friday April 13th. Social Studies: This week we will begin learning about the WEST region. This region includes 11 states. Students will bring home the West region map with the states and capitals labeled, as well as a baggie with the states and capitals on flashcards. In class we will be learning about the West region’s climate, economics, landforms, history, natural resources, and landmarks. The West region test will be next Friday, April 13th Reading: This week we are working on identifying and defining challenging vocabulary words within text. We will read various passages and answer questions about word meanings. Students will be practicing strategies to help them use text clues to prove their answers. This will be good preparation for similar questions on the reading MCA test coming up in 2 weeks. Writing: We are drafting personal narratives this week. Focusing on our story boards. Kiddos will be doing at least a story board a day, check Seesaw for pictures of their work! Specials: Mon: Day 10 Art Tues: Day 1 Music Wed: Day 2 Gym Thurs: Day 3 Media Fri: Day 4 Music FYI : I have had many parents and kids asking about homework opportunities for students. Kids should be reading 20 minutes a night and studying for tests. Additionally I have sent home some math packets (review skills) and reading packet (review skills) for them to take home.
