3 September 4, [Day F] SWBAT: write a ratio to represent a situation and write a situation to represent a ratio.

4 -a pair of nonnegative numbers, A:B -both are not zero
Vocabulary Ratio -a pair of nonnegative numbers, A:B -both are not zero -order of the pair of numbers in a ratio matters Ex. 3:2 or 3 to 2 -used to indicate that there is a relationship between two quantities such that when there are A units of one quantity, there are B units of the second quantity A ratio is always a pair of numbers such as 2:3. It is never a pair of quantities such as 2cm: 3 sec. Keep track of the units in a word problem separately. Ratio relationships describe phrase in a word problem tht indicates a ratio. Ex. A ratio relationship is “3 cups to 4 cups,” or “5 miles in 4 hours.” The ratios would be 3:4 or 5:4 -Describe a phrase in a word problem to indicate a ratio Ex. 5 miles in 4 hours (ratio 5:4 or 5 to 4) Ratio relationship

5 September 4, [Day F] Suppose the ratio of the number of boys to the number of girls on the team is 3:2.

6 number of boys to the number of girls
September 4, [Day F] number of boys to the number of girls 3:2
