1 Tuesday, October 7, Day C Welcome back! You need everything for periods 1-4, including your lunch. Please make sure you have your: Agenda Pencil Homework Necessary materials for your first four classes.

2 October 7, 2014 Tuesday Day C ACTIVATOR 1. Have homework out on corner of your desk. 2. Take out notebook and packet. 3. Solve in your notebook Kelli is traveling by train with her soccer team from Yonkers, NY to Morgantown, WV for a tournament. If the distance between Yonkers and Morgantown is 400 miles, and the total trip will take 8 hours, how long will it take to complete the first 100 miles?

3 October 7, 2014 Tuesday Day C Today’s Objective SWBAT: represent ratios in ratio tables, equations, and double number line diagrams and then represent those ratios in the coordinate plane. 6.RP.A.3a We will show we understand when we can successfully complete the Ticket To Go.

4 Add to your two-column notes:
Discrete Data Set of data values with unconnected data points and often represents data that is countable and often finite; not connected with a ray. Continuous Data Represents an unlimited selection of data and include integers. Can connect the data point with a ray.

6 Hours 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 300 100 200 400 500 600 700 800 Miles Using the information from the double number line diagram, how many miles would be traveled in one hour? 50 miles How do you know? If a train is moving at a constant speed, half of 2 hours is 1 hour and half of 100 miles is 50 miles.

9 Classwork Discussion:
October 7, 2014 Tuesday Day C Classwork Discussion: We use the horizontal and vertical axes to measure quantities. In most cases, time is what is placed on the horizontal axis. How should we label this axis? Hours Which quantity will we measure using the vertical axis, time or distance? How should we label this axis? Distance Miles

10 Located the ordered pair (4, 600) on the coordinate plane.
What does this point represent in the context of distance and time? The train traveled 600 miles in 4 hours. The train traveled 500 miles in 7 hours How far did the train travel in 7 hours? What do you notice about the arrangement of the points on the coordinate plane? They appear to be in a line What do you think having an ordered pair of (0,0)means since we drew the line to the origin? Zero hours after the trip began, the train has traveled zero miles.

13 October 7, 2014 Tuesday Day C Ticket-to-Go Dominic works on weekends and on vacations from school mowing lawns in his neighborhood. For every lawn he mows, he charges $12. Complete the table. How much money will Dominic make if he mows 9 lawns?

14 October 7, 2014 Tuesday Day C In your agenda please copy tonight’s homework and leave out for me to stamp. Math: Lesson 14 Pgs. s57-58 Science: Social Studies: English:
