8 Revenue and taxation This pathway covers the workers who collect revenue for federal, state, and local governments. Jobs include: Tax examiners IRS agents Auditors Assessors

9 Governance This pathway encompasses all the workers involved in the process of governing, either at the local, state, or federal level. Jobs include: Legislators Legislative aides City managers Policy analysts Policy researchers

10 Regulation This pathway involves enforcing compliance with the laws and rules made by the government. Jobs include: Bank examiner Labor law investigator Election supervisor Health inspector Customs agent Child support officer Border inspector

11 National security The national security pathway includes more than 2 million workers involved in protecting the security of the United States Jobs include: Air defense officers Counterintelligence agents CIA agents Soldiers Sailors Airmen Cryptologists Special forces agents

Education requirements vary with each job After taking classes relevant to government and public administration, you could pursue any number of opportunities including: On-the-job training in an administrative role or as a member of the armed forces A two-year college degree in public administration, healthcare administration, human services management or political science A four-year college degree in political science, public administration, national security, public policy or revenue
