1 Striving for the Development of Motorcycle Sports in Asia Presented by Shi Tianshu Chairman of the CMSA Board of Directors Candidate for UAM President

2 Shi Tianshu, Candidate for UAM President Representing China, I am standing here before you and asking you for support for my bid to become the next UAM President. I am doing so out of my aspiration to contribute to the development of motorcycle sports in Asia.

3 Asia, a Great Continent Asia boasts the largest population in the world Asias economy is developing very fast There is a bright future for the development of motorcycle sports in Asia

4 China, Potential Market for Motorcycle Sports China boasts not only a population of more than 1.3 billion, the largest in the world, but is also a huge market for motor sports and motorbikes. The Chinese Motor Sports Association is a national sporting authority governing all kinds of motorcycle sports in China. CMSA enjoys rich experience in administration and strong support from the government.

5 Dynamic Economy and Thriving Motorcycle Industry Since the early 1980s, China has witnessed sustained and rapid economic development. China's gross domestic product ( GDP) grew by more than 9.4 percent in 2005. The country produced more than 15 million motorcycles in 2005 and exported 3.87 million of them.

6 Sports Industry Booms in China Thanks to 2008 Beijing Olympic Games China, particularly its capital Beijing, will be the focus of world attention in the coming years as the 2008 Olympic Games will be staged in the capital city. As China is to host the Olympic Games in 2008, many international sports organizations have set up offices in the country. The 2008 Olympic Games has given a new impetus to the development of the sports industry and the economy as a whole in China. This will be beneficial to Asia and the world in general.

8 Motorcycle Sports In China International Events: MotoGP World Championship in 2005 World Endurance Championship in 2004 Asia Road Racing Championship every year Asia Trial Invitation Event in 2004 International Motorcycling Tourism Festival since 2003 Homologated Circuits by FIM: 3 including a Grade A circuit

9 UAM Secretariat A New Age of UAM FIM UAM Members UAM

10 Highly Efficient Secretariat will be set up A highly efficient Secretariat will be set up and headed by an English-speaking Secretary General, with an English-speaking staff. The Secretariat will ensure smooth and timely communication with UAM members, and rapid response to queries made by FIM and UAM Members. It will organize the annual session of the UAM Congress, meetings of the Management Council and other meetings called for by the General Assembly. It will maintain close ties and coordination with FIM and carry out work under FIM guidance.

11 Smooth Communication Between Secretariat and Member Associations A full-time English-speaking Secretariat Smooth communication between the Secretariat and Member Associations through modern communications such as publications, letters, fax, telephone and the Internet. Easy access to the UAM Secretariat by Member Associations through the UAM website Timely response to any request or query made by UAM Member Associations Members UAM Secretariat Management Council

12 Use an independent foreign currency account for all UAM cash transfers Provide a detailed final account each fiscal year Commission an international accounting firm to serve as the UAM accountant The UAM accounts will be available at any time to UAM and FIM auditors for checkups Full Implementation of UAM Financial Policy

13 I Promise CMSA will provide free office space equipped with modern facilities Employ a highly capable full-time English-speaking Secretariat staff with a good knowledge of motorcycle sports Charge no allowance from UAM

14 I also promise here that I will … Serve just one term in the office of UAM president Stand for the rotation of the UAM presidency among Member Associations Further develop and promote all forms of motorcycling in Asia as well as cooperation and friendship among Member Associations Carry on UAM tradition and make more contributions to the development of motorcycle sports in Asia

15 Should you entrust me with the Presidency, I also promise that I will wholeheartedly work for the further development of motorcycle sports in Asia Organize more motorcycle events and exchanges between Member Associations Bring more members to the UAM Get more manufactures and enterprises to support and sponsor UAM events. Set up a forum to bring together motorcycle manufacturers and motorcycle sports circles I sincerely hope that you will give me the opportunity to serve the UAM and its Member Associations.
