2 About CELA Books in Accessible Formats to Canadians w Print disabilities thru public libraries CELA supports over 2,000 libraries across the country by providing over 650,000 books, 150 magazines and 50 newspapers in accessible formats through a fully bilingual accessible web site and catalogue. Partner with CNIB, Bookshare, et al 5th anniversary!

8 CELA By the Numbers Albertans using CELA services have borrowed, downloaded or accessed over 1.2 million items since 2014 120 Alberta libraries in Canada carry CELA DAISY CD deposit collections 111 Albertan educators representing 4,200 students have signed up for CELA services. Close to 11,000 titles in French have been made available through our partnership with BAnQ CELA sends our Open Book e-newsletter to over 9,000 patrons, 1,200 library staff and 600 educators nationwide CELA/CNIB has added 2,800 titles from ABC Global Book Service-the WIPO pipeline for exchanging titles via the Marrakesh Treaty. Our collection is currently the most heavily sought, encompassing close to 60% of downloads.

National Copyright Exceptions enable books to be provided to people with disabilities Section 121 and Section 121a of the US Copyright law Exclusively for use by people who are blind, visually impaired, reading impaired Must be made on a non-profit basis Books must list copyright owner and publication date. Rights to offer books in other countries including Canada In Philippines, and Marrakesh

30 eBound Canada Partnership
Digital arm of the Association of Canadian Publishers CNIB currently producing audiobooks for eBound publishers CELA helped to facilitate the agreement - materials produced will be added to the CELA collection at no cost Publishers receive quality audio recording for commercial and library sales, accessible epubs and the sharing of best practices The Audible Issue. More to come…

31 Phone it Forward CNIB seeks donations of smart phones, which will be refurbished, loaded with relevant apps, distributed to CNIB clients with vision loss, who will be trained on use of the devices. In Phase 1 of the partnership, libraries will serve as a pick-up point for the envelopes needed to donate the phones. Plans underway for 15 library systems. In Phase 2, Libraries will provide meeting space for training. Draw persons with print disabilities into the library space and to showcase accessible services.
