9. CHALLENGES AND INTERVENTIONS
INTERVENTIONS BY DAC
LEADERSHIP:
The board of PanSALB was dissolved in January The dissolution was challenged in Court by the former board members. Matter was heard in Court and the case was dismissed with costs. Applicants lodged appeal and it was also dismissed
An approval to constitute the new Board has been given by the Minister. Advert calling for nominations to be published from 01 October 2017.
COMMUNICATION
Lack of communication between Entities management unit and PanSALB pose a challenge when submissions to the Portfolio Committee are due.
Communication protocols were drafted but not finalised, however it is mentioned in the Annual Report that the CEO will only communicate directly with the DG and DDG
Litigation
The dismissal of employees is still pending in the Labour Court
Department allocated R20 million to be used for the settlement with dismissed employees. Report on how these funds have been utilised was requested but has not yet reached the Department.
