2 Figure 1 Crosstalk between TGF-β and HH signaling. TGF-β ligand binding to its receptors activates the SMAD cascade, resulting in transcriptional activation of GLI2. GLI2 protein may either regulate target gene expression downstream of TGF-β signaling or feed into to HH-driven signaling, which occurs via SMO activation within the primary cilium in response to HH binding to its receptor PTCH1.
