3 Social studies provides a comprehensive program that seeks to develop knowledge, attitudes, and skills that will enable students to understand how groups and institutions influence the lives of individuals and give society its stability and order. Our program incorporates practice in reflective inquiry, problem analysis, and decision –making to enable students to develop a commitment to democracy and to become rational citizens in a global context.

4 You know we have to have RULES

5 Uniform Policy You will be stopped and written up before you even get to our classrooms. Shirts: White Monday-Thursday Undershirts must be solid white Shoes: Must have a back or back strap (no flip-flops or mules) Heels 1 inch or less

6 Uniform policy continued…
Bottoms (slacks, shorts, skirts) Black, navy, or tan Must have belt loops Skirts, shorts, and dresses must be knee length or longer Must be worn at waist-NEVER SAGGING!!!

7 MORE Uniform Rules… All shirts must be tucked in (boys)
All shirts must be polo style No mid-drifts are visible at any time Undergarments must be worn No logos anywhere No over or under-sized clothing Outerwear can be white, tan, black, navy, hunter green, maroon, or gray with CMS logo Socks must match

8 DON’T TOUCH THINGS THAT ARE NOT YOURS:
Book bags Purses People Anything on my desk…

9 Big No No per Ms. Whitehead!
Chewing Gum Big No No per Ms. Whitehead! Automatic Detention!

10 No Cell phones

11 In the Hall Walk on the RIGHT side SILENT hall
Uniform checking from all the teachers you pass

12 Restrooms You will sign out of class to go to the restroom
You will sign in when you return

13 Tardiness If you are tardy to homeroom, you will sign in on a tardy sheet. (see MCS Student Conduct Handout) If you are tardy to any class after homeroom, you will receive detention.

14 Detention Held on Tuesday and Thursday Held from 2:30-3:00
Mrs. Saulsberry holds detention on Friday from 2:30-5:00 for serious conduct issues.

15 Absences You are responsible for finding out what you missed.
Try to be present everyday-media presentations, group work, etc. can not be made up. You are responsible for finding out what you missed. All make up work should be turned in to the “Please Grade Me” box.

16 Agenda Books Required (and provided free) Bring to each class
Keep up to date with projects, homework, announcements, phone numbers, etc. Parents may be asked to sign

17 Be prepared for class before the tardy bell rings…
2 pencils sharpened Books, workbooks, paper, etc. at your desk Start bell work

18 Social Studies Read every lesson assigned. Reading is homework.
Homework is usually Monday- Thursday. Workbook Assignments Projects Extra Credit Tests and Quizzes

19 English You must memorize rules Paragraph/sentence editing
Johnson O’Connor Vocabulary Homework: Monday-Thursday Unit Tests
