WHY IMAGERY? Authors use IMAGERY to make their work come to LIFE IMAGERY: The use of vivid or figurative language to represent objects, actions, or ideas.

TACTILE IMAGERY Imagery that stimulates the sense of TOUCH Ex. “The cat’s fur felt like a shaggy rug.” “My mother’s hands were warm like fresh dough.” The way things FEEL when you touch them

Gustatory Imagery Imagery that stimulates the sense of TASTE “I hated mom’s cooking. Every night I would put a fake smile on my face as I ate a meal that tasted like an old, used garbage bag.”
