Club Projects Garden Club of Monroeville, PA 2013 Event Calendar “Serious Fun” Our goal is to keep our membership current about the environment and things we can do to improve conditions. We also plan on enjoying each other as friends, gardeners, artists and explorers. We support conservation and civic goals by:  PARTICIPATING IN KINDER CARE GARDENING THEME SUMMER PROGRAM SPONSORING A GCM MEET/GREET PRESENTATION AT MONROEVILLE LIBRARY MAINTAINING TWO WELCOME SIGN MONROEVILLE GARDENS (University Park Drive and Beatty Road; Illini Drive and Elliot Road) SUPPORTING "BUILDING NEW HOPE” CHARITY BUILDING/MAINTAINING GCM WEBSITE The Garden Club of Monroeville (formerly University Park Garden Club) was founded in 1959 as an affiliate of the Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania (GCFP) – District VII. District VII is in the Central Atlantic Region of the National Garden Clubs (NGC), Inc. The Club changed its name in 2012 to reflect its membership territory, which now includes six garden clubs that formerly existed in Monroeville. January & February No meetings March 13 Regular Meeting ”Odd-Ball Vases”  March 21 District VII Annual Membership Tea at Heritage House, McKeesport April 4-6 “Art in Bloom” at Carnegie Art Museum April 10 Regular meeting ”Everyday Floral Arrangements” April Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania (GCFP) Convention in King of Prussia, PA May 8 Regular Meeting ”Rachel Carson Homestead Trip” and/or “Plan for Kindercare Garden Week” May 28 (7-8PM) GCM at Monroeville Library, “Creating a Backyard Habitat for Birds and Insects” (speaker, D. Dumrauf) June 12 Regular Meeting ”Pesticides” June Kindercare Garden Program July & August No meetings. July Musical: ”Sisters of Swing” September 9 District VII Annual Meeting September 11 Regular meeting ”Genetically Modified Organisms” October 9 Regular meeting ”Working with Dried Materials” November 13 Regular meeting ”Building a Cornucopia” December 11 Christmas Luncheon

GCM Purposes are… Contact Us Garden Club of Monroeville, PA (GCM) To co-ordinate with the Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania to maintain and improve quality floral and gardening processes. To aid in the protection and conservation of natural resources, promote civic beautification and encourage the improvement of roadsides and parks. To encourage the establishment and maintenance of botanical gardens, arboreta and horticultural centers for the advancement of science and foster enjoyment and education of the public. To advance the study of gardening, landscape design, floral design and horticulture and environmental issues. To co-operate with other organizations to further interests in horticulture, conservation, environmental protection and beautification. The Regular Meetings of the Garden Club of Monroeville occur every second Wednesday of March, April, May, June, September, October, November (10:30 AM – 2:00 PM) at: Good Shepherd Lutheran Church
