1 Club Projects Garden Club of Monroeville, PA 2012 Event Calendar We support conservation and civic goals by:  MAINTAINING TWO MONROEVILLE GARDENS (College Park Drive and Beatty Road; Illini Drive and Elliot Road)  SUPPORTING "BUILDING NEW HOPE”  PARTICIPATING IN HOLOCAUST BUTTERFLY PROJECT  BUILDING/MAINTAINING GCM WEBSITE The Garden Club of Monroeville (formerly University Park Garden Club) was founded in 1959 as an affiliate of the Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania (GCFP) – District VII. District VII is in the Central Atlantic Region of the National Garden Clubs (NGC), Inc. The Club changed its name in 2012 to reflect its membership territory, which now includes six garden clubs that formerly existed in Monroeville.  January & February No meetings March 14 Regular Meeting "Mulching and Weed Control" - March 22 District VII Membership Tea at Heritage House, McKeesport  April 11 Regular meeting "Ground Covers for Sun and Shade” - April 13 “Art in Bloom” at Carnegie Art Museum - April 22-24 Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania (GCFP) Convention in Philadelphia, PA  May 9 Regular Meeting "Spring and Early Summer Wildflowers" - May 16-19 National Garden Club (NGC) Convention in Buffalo, NY June 13 Regular Meeting "Asian Herbs and Spices”  July & August No meetings  September 7 District VII Annual Meeting  September 12 Regular meeting "Drying Herbs, Vegetables and Fruit”  October 10 Regular meeting "Plants for a Garden Water Interest/ Late Summer and Fall Wildflowers”  November 14 Regular meeting "Something New in Houseplants”  December 12 Christmas Party

2 GCM PurposesContact Us Garden Club of Monroeville, PA (GCM) To co-ordinate with the Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania to maintain and improve quality floral and gardening processes. To aid in the protection and conservation of natural resources, promote civic beautification and encourage the improvement of roadsides and parks. To encourage the establishment and maintenance of botanical gardens, arboreta and horticultural centers for the advancement of science and foster enjoyment and education of the public. To advance the study of gardening, landscape design, floral design and horticulture and environmental issues. To co-operate with other organizations to further interests in horticulture, conservation, environmental protection and beautification.
