Recent History In the Past, CEAL website was hosted by CEAL Library Technology Committee chair’s institution The CEAL Executive Board approved the purchase of Webspace for the CEAL website in 2007 CEAL purchased the CEAL Domain name in 2007: The CEAL website now lives in its own webspace Website Current Contents CEAL Directory CEAL Main Page Information on CEAL Policies and Membership Many of the CEAL Committees currently DO NOT yet have their files on the CEAL website Cost: In May, 2007, the CEAL Executive Board approved the purchase of: Domain name registration for 2 years: $28.00 (Renewal in May 2009) Webhosting for 1 year: $39.90 (Renewal in May 2008) Total Annual Cost: $53.90 5/5/2019 Working with the CEAL Website

5 Advantages of the New Setup
Stable Not necessary to transfer files when committee personnel changes Portable Access Anyone with password for sub-domain can access their committee files from anywhere Enables collaboration between members in different locations User Friendly Works well with MS FrontPage and other software Also works with FTP programs (Can upload files created in any website creation software) Inexpensive Includes “ domain name Working with the CEAL Website

12 Creating Your Committee Page: Getting Started
Each committee gets it’s own folder in the CEAL website Each folder represents a separate “sub-domain” Sub-Domains have their own passwords, assigned by the CEAL Library Technology Committee Creating a Page You can create a page for your committee on your own computer.  The easiest way to do that is by using web editing software such as Microsfoft FrontPage, Microsoft Expression Web, or Adobe Dreamweaver.  5/5/2019 Working with the CEAL Website

Using the Microsoft File Navigator in Windows 1) Right Click the green "Start" Button (lower left corner of the screen). 2) On the right-click menu, click "Explore" 3) Windows Explorer Opens: 5/5/2019 Working with the CEAL Website

Using the Microsoft File Navigator in Windows 4) Type the ftp address for the CEAL server into the "Address" box, and press “Go”: ftp://ftp.eastasianlib.org 5/5/2019 Working with the CEAL Website

Using the Microsoft File Navigator in Windows 7) Copy your files from your hard drive to the ftp site, using copy paste. 5/5/2019 Working with the CEAL Website

Using FileZilla, the Free FTP Software 1) Go to the Filezilla website: 2) Select "Download FilleZilla Client“ 3) After downloading, copy the file to an empty folder on your desktop. 4) Follow the directions and install FileZilla 5/5/2019 Working with the CEAL Website

Using FileZilla 1) Start FileZilla, and insert the CEAL FTP server address in the "Host" box.  Insert the username, and password.  Type the Port number: "21". Press "Quickconnect." 5/5/2019 Working with the CEAL Website
