6 BENIFITS of High School At GORMAN
Yearbook Each Year Prom - Grades 11-12 Grad Day at Disneyland Graduation Cap and Gown Graduation Ceremony These benefits are the same as students would have at a traditional school. As a senior, some of these costs come all at once—which is something to keep in mind. These are not required purchases, but in the event these are a chosen part of high school, they cost money. The Prom, yearbook, cap and gown, and grad day at Disneyland are all events through GLC.

7 High School Graduation Credit Requirements
40 credits of English 20 credits of Math (Algebra 1 Required) 20 credits of Science (Labs not Required) 30 credits of History/Social Studies 20 credits of Physical Education 10 credits of VAPA/Foreign Language 5 credits of Health 75 credits of Electives Our Grad Reqs were recently revised to this. WE are awaiting board approval. MATH: One full year of Algebra is required to graduate. If they took it in middle school, their grades in higher level math courses will demonstrate their knowledge A full year of Geometry is also required to enter into a UC as a freshman. If these are the only two higher-level math courses listed on a student’s transcript the UC won’t likely be interested anyway. They would want to see Algebra 2 and beyond. VAPA/FL: Basic- 1 year of either VAPA or For Lang College- 1 year of VAPA 220 credits required to graduate

8 What your 9th grade year might look like….
FALL SEMESTER Course Credits English 9 A 5 Algebra 1 A 5 Earth Science A 5 PE 5 Elective 5 Health 5 SPRING SEMESTER Course Credits English 9 B Algebra 1 B Earth Science B PE Elective This is what a typical 9th grade school year would look like. Each class earns 1 credit each LP There are 5 LPs, so they would earn 5 credits per class each semester They have to be enrolled in 6 classes per semester, except during their senior year. 5 credits per class for a Semester Course x 2 semesters = 10 credits each year per class

14 Career Planning Interest Inventories Aptitude Tests Volunteer
California Career Center: California Career Zone: Research career trends for future career sustenance Research how to become educated for the career of choice Lists necessary skills I will set some Interest Inventories out on the back table for you to take one for each incoming high school student. There may not be enough for everyone but you can either me or let your IST know that you’d like one and we will get that for you. Some sites to go to are these. Some career interests don’t include a 4-year degree at all, but a trade school, which, today is becoming more and more acceptable, depending on the field in which a person is employed. So to find that out before deciding which direction to pursue, researching career interests is a wise idea.
