Under construction Search results page to be further refined
Advanced Search with field-specific searching

What Will Change?

Old Interface had confusing choices to make on the front end

New interface has one search across all content: Publication abstracts, table text, datasets

New Interface guides users in searches
The type-ahead feature points users to related free text words and subject terms in the metadata

Old interface had a limit of 1000 results

New Statistical result set is unlimited in size (but you can limit by facets)

Old interface results combined state, national, and worldwide data in a confusing mix

New interface allows users to filter results based on the geographic area they are interested in….In this case, data by US region

Or New York State

Old interface has “clutter” in search results caused by prior editions of serials

New interface search results show only the most recent serial issue containing your search terms
But you can choose to see prior editions containing hits….

If you click on the “Prior Editions” link, you would see…

You can also view all editions covered by LexisNexis Statistical since the 1970s.

What Else is Coming …

Search results ordered by relevance— occurrences in titles, notations of content, and first sentence of abstract are given the most weight.

Users can select a year from the bar graph to narrow results to a specific year of publication or the years covered by the data.

More Full Text SRI PDFs online in January 2010
Links to publications on external websites, for content not yet licensed by LexisNexis.

User Profiles Users can create an account so the system can recall and display their search history, and retrieve a particular document, table, or dataset

Stay Tuned….
