4 How is TDES different? More opportunities for observation. More opportunities for conversation. Evidence based evaluation.

5 Who evaluates me? Teachers: building principals. Paras: building principals. Other staff: supervisors or principals.

6 When will I be evaluated?
You can expect to be observed at least three times between January and May. Walkthrough 1 (February) Formal Announced Observation (late March or early April) Walkthrough 2 (late April or early May)

7 What is the Portal? TDES is currently managed online on the CMSD Intranet. The TDES website is called the portal.

8 How do I access the Portal?
You do not need a separate user name and password to access the TDES portal. You must be logged in as yourself on the computer to access the TDES portal. You must be on the CMSD network (at work) to access the portal.

9 What is the process? Walkthrough Formal Announced Evaluation Composite Evaluation

10 Walkthrough Informal 5 – 15 minutes observation. Evaluator takes notes about teacher’s practice. Teacher receives notice that the walkthrough is submitted in the portal. Teacher can add evidence to the walkthrough in the portal.

11 Formal Announced Observation
Preconference notification. Teacher creates Lesson Plan and submits LP in portal. Preconference to discuss LP. Observation of at least 30 minutes. Evaluator submits evidence in portal. Teacher can add evidence if desired.

12 Formal Announced Observation
Post conference scheduled in portal. Teacher self evaluates on rubric in portal. Evaluator marks areas of agreement. Post conference to discuss remaining areas on rubric and complete combined rubric. 10 working days from preconference to post conference.

13 Composite Evaluation Composite conference scheduled in portal. Teacher self evaluates on composite. Evaluator marks areas of agreement. Composite conference to discuss remaining areas on composite. Completion of final composite.

14 What is the other 50%? The TDES process is 50% of a teacher’s final rating. The remaining 50% will be based on data, including test scores. This ratio is mandated by law by the State of Ohio.

15 Where do I find more information?
SchoolNet has all recent CMSD training materials. Ohio Department of Education has information about the State’s mandates.

16 Whom do I contact? Each school has a TDES team that includes the building administrators and the CTU representative Jill Cabe, TDES Coordinator
