1 Term 5 Volcanoes D.T Design
DT2/1.1b generate, develop, model and communicate their ideas through discussion, annotated sketches, cross-sectional and exploded diagrams, prototypes, Make DT2/1.2a select from and use a wider range of tools and equipment to perform practical tasks accurately DT2/1.2b select from and use a wider range of materials and components, including construction materials, textiles and ingredients, according to their functional properties and aesthetic qualities Evaluate DT2/1.3b evaluate their products against their own design criteria and consider the views of others to improve their work DT2/ Technological Knowledge DT2/1.4a apply their understanding of how to strengthen, stiffen and reinforce more complex structures . Science Plants Sc3/2.1a identify and describe the functions of different parts of flowering plants: roots, stem/trunk, leaves and flowers Sc3/2.1b explore the requirements of plants for life and growth (air, light, water, nutrients from soil, and room to grow) and how they vary from plant to plant Sc3/2.1c investigate the way in which water is transported within plants Sc3/2.1d explore the part that flowers play in the life cycle of flowering plants, including pollination, seed formation and seed dispersal . Term 5 Volcanoes I can identify parts of a flower. I can sort vertebrates and invertebrates I can justify the best place for a plant to be. I can compare the needs of plants (e.g. succulents / carnations) I can investigate how flowers pollinate. I can plan my volcano model. I select appropriate materials I can apply my technical knowledge to secure my model. I can evaluate the strengths and next steps of my finished product and my partner’s project. Geography Ge2/ Human and Physical Geography Ge2/1.3a describe and understand key aspects of physical geography, including: volcanoes Ge2/ Geographical Skills and Fieldwork Ge2/1.4a use maps, atlases, globes and digital/computer mapping to locate countries and describe features studied . Art Ar2/ to create sketch books to record their observations and use them to review and revisit ideas Ar2/ to improve their mastery of art and design techniques, including drawing, painting and sculpture with a range of materials . I can explore life in volcanic areas. I can recall features of a volcano. I can compare a volcanic area to a non-volcanic area. I can imagine what an eruption would be like. Computing Co2/ understand computer networks including the internet; how they can provide multiple services, such as the world-wide web; and the opportunities they offer for communication and collaboration Co2/ use search technologies effectively, appreciate how results are selected and ranked, and be discerning in evaluating digital content Co2/ use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly; recognise acceptable/unacceptable behaviour; identify a range of ways to report concerns about content and contact . I can say what I like about a piece of art. I can use mixed media to add texture. I can refine my sketching skills I can evaluate my artwork. I can compare my artwork to the artist’s work and my peers. Music Mu2/ appreciate and understand a wide range of high-quality live and recorded music drawn from different traditions and from great composers and musicians . I can explain how messages are sent online. I can explain how to stay safe online. I can create a slogan for safe searching. I can evaluate the sources I gain from the internet. I can repeat patterns. I can compare types of music. I can evaluate music from around the world.
