1 Introduction to Unit Before we start – what is a brief?
Why do you think it is important to have a creative brief What types of briefs have you worked from – list the pros and cons of some briefs you have received here Can you name any ‘types of briefs’? Lesson 1

2 Task 1a Read over the two briefs (handout) and answer the questions (1-6) Highlight the important sections of these briefs which you think will help you produce this product Which brief do you prefer? Why? What are the main differences between them? List 2 good and 2 bad points from both Do you think these briefs are formal or informal? How much creative scope do they give you? Lesson 1

Task 2 From class discussion and information on weebly as well as your own research you need to put a PowerPoint together outlining the following What each of the 7 briefs are 1 positive for the type brief 1 negative for the type of brief Find examples for at least 4 out of the 7 types Upload your PowerPoint to your weebly page Lesson 1 ( give 20 minutes of lesson 2 if they haven’t completed it in lesson 1) You have until the end of lesson to do this

8 Task 3 Choose 1 of the 7 types of briefs and write your own.
This brief must be for an animation and will be given to a member of your class to make over the next week. You can state as little or as much as you think is necessary and at the end you will mark that persons work against your brief. Lesson 2

9 Print off your brief and pass them to the front.

You have the next 2 lessons to do the following: Go to your client and negotiate any changes you wish to make (at least 1) Create any planning / pre-production materials you think you need to produce Create the animation / upload it to your site a link to your client so they can evaluate it Lesson 5, 6, 7 and 8

10 Homework - Evaluation Task 1: You are the client
Grade the piece of work which was created for you in accordance to your brief. Grade the following out of 5 How closely the production followed the brief How good the production was (would you put your name to it and commission it?) How good the planning was your feedback back to the creator Lesson 6 Task 2: You are the creator Once you have had your feedback back, you must write a 200 word evaluation on: How you could have followed the brief better What would have made this task easier with regard to client contact What you will do differently in future in order to create what the client is asking for
