Stronger focus on Social media to interact with users. Increased use of infographics and videos to explain statistics in a more understandable and direct way. Efforts to improve statistical literacy, for example Statistics 4 beginners in Statistics Explained. Digital publications: Shedding light on energy in the EU, Digital economy & society in the EU and The life of women and men in the EU (18 October). Increased cooperation with the ESS through the DIGICOM project (multilingualism, common Facebook account etc).

15 New page for Regions and cities
A new development which will be released by the end of this year, a new web page consolidating already existing content in a hopefully more user-friendly way. The website is based on responsive design and works well also on mobile devices, using practical icons for selecting topics. Please contact us if you have comments on the content or suggestions for improvement!

16 The Statistical Atlas:
An interactive map viewer based on tailor-made maps with extracted data, perfect for comparing and analysing statistical and geospatial data. Contains maps from the Eurostat regional yearbook as well as the LUCAS survey and Census 2011. New development: we plan to release a new statistical geography viewer to keep track of border changes in the NUTS classification and in different territorial typologies. 20 New viewer: Statistical geography
We are planning to release a new geographical viewer in the Statistical Atlas before the end of this year: it will include boundaries of all NUTS versions (from NUTS 2003 to NUTS 2016), typologies at regional level (NUTS 3 regions), typologies at local level (LAU2), GEOSTAT population grid, city definitions and transport infrastructure. The idea is to collect all maps on statistical geography in one viewer to facilitate version control and comparison between different map layers (by using the tab with transparency settings). 21 Regions and Cities Illustrated:
An advanced data visualisation tool combining maps and graphs based on live data feed from the Eurostat database, perfect for analysing detailed data patterns within and between the countries and development over time. Existing tabs: Regions, Cities, Urban-rural regions, Coastal regions and the Degree of urbanisation.
