A tautology is a needless repetition of words or ideas.
For example, the phrase “widow woman” is redundant Why? Yogi Berra was famous for using tautology with statements such as the following: Let’s talk… How does tautology affect the reader?

A widow is a woman whose spouse has died
A widow is a woman whose spouse has died. The word usually refers to a bereaved woman who has not remarried. Widower is simply the male equivalent of widow. It refers to a man who has lost his spouse and has not remarried.
