1 Classroom Expectations
for World Cultures

2 Great Expectations Refer to your green Expectations form for the 8 expectations for living

3 Supplies Students are required to have a spiral notebook everyday. You may keep it in class or take home but you must have it everyday Students will need the following on a daily basis: pencil or pen, glue stick, map pencils, scissors Students will be allowed to use their electronic device on a regular basis for educational purposes. Textbooks remain in the classroom at all times. It is expected that students will treat the teacher’s supplies with respect and courtesy. Do NOT use the sharpener mounted on the wall to sharpen map pencils.

4 Grading Each nine weeks: 3 major grades and 9 daily grades
Late policy: 1 day late: 10 points off 2 days late: 20 points off 3 days late: 30 points off *More than 3 days late the assignment will receive a zero!

5 What do I do if I am absent?
Check your teacher’s website to see what assignments you missed and Google Classroom Talk to your teacher ASAP! Look in the Absent work folder for papers that you missed You have 1 day for each day that you are absent to make up your work

6 Restroom Each student will be given a restroom pass at the beginning of each nine weeks. You will be allowed to leave to go to the restroom 5 times each nine weeks After getting your teacher to initial your pass, get a hall pass, and return as quickly as possible

7 Only visit the websites approved by your teacher
Technology Use Electronic device only when given permission Only use when instructed by your teacher When using a chromebook keep it at your desk, do not walk around with it, always hold with two hands when getting it out of the cart or returning it to the cart No rough housing, food, drink or gum when using the chromebooks Do not pick the keys off the keyboard If you notice something is wrong with your assigned chromebook, report the issue to your teacher IMMEDIATELY Only visit the websites approved by your teacher

8 When to talk and not talk
“Yes, you can talk”: group work, partner work “No, you may not talk”: the teacher is talking, another classmate is presenting to the class, tests/ quizzes, warm-ups

9 Food and drink in classroom
Water is allowed if it has a closed lid (exception: when chromebooks are being used) Food: no candy, no chips or greasy food, healthy snacks are allowed as long as they do not cause distractions...if trash is left behind your teacher will implement a no food policy

10 Warm-ups Students will have a daily warm-up. You are expected to complete it within the first five minutes of class EVERYDAY. Students will write the date, question, and answer EVERYDAY. Students will receive a stamp after answering the question. At the end of each nine weeks students will get a grade from their stamp chart. Five points will be taken off for each blank box.

12 Classroom Creed We will create a classroom creed. A classroom creed is 2-3 sentences that is the foundation for how we treat ourselves, each other, and our room. It is a formal set of beliefs that guide our actions. Work with the classmates at your table to come up with one or two sentences to use for our creed. You will write your sentences on a post it note and put the post it note on the chart paper.

13 VIP Each week your teacher will pick a VIP (Very Important Person) who has demonstrated excellence. How to earn this distinction: Being respectful and kind Ignoring poor choices Worrying about yourself and not others Reaching personal goals Working hard Following the 8 expectations for living
