CAP CIC helps create local Community Alcohol Partnerships between alcohol retailers and stakeholders resulting in better communications and a co-ordinated effort to tackle the issues together Community Alcohol Partnerships have the active support of the Retail of Alcohol Standards Group

Along with partner agencies, work together in an effort to jointly reduce the causes of antisocial behaviour in our communities. 4 National Mandatory Licensing Conditions
NHS Health (Scotland) Young people want information that supports them in making their own choices and to be able to access support if or when they need it. There should also be a focus on building personal skills that help young people to make choices to minimise unwanted risks, build resilience and strengthen other protective factors for wellbeing. Reduce the exposure of children and young people to alcohol marketing or to limit its appeal. Early interventions help to identify vulnerable children at a younger age which can improve their life chances and choices. Inclusion of best education resources – AET, BBC, British Red Cross, Public Health, Frank and others. Builds on existing work and offers innovations from CAPs around the UK Brings together all agencies and voluntary services. General shape but bespoke to the needs of the area Nil cost to partners. CAP is led by the partners. Top level buy-in to CAP from all RASG members. The CAP approach recognises that enforcement can only partly achieve the vision – education is key and retail is part of the solution, not part of the problem Working in partnership enables stakeholders to share knowledge, expertise and resources CAP activity complements the existing work of stakeholders without increasing resources in the long term By working together, far more can be achieved than by working in isolation

14 Objectives Reduce incidents of alcohol sales to young people under the age of 18. Reduce proxy purchasing and general supply of alcohol to those under the age of 18. Reduce youth related anti-social behaviour associated with alcohol consumption. Improve the health of young people so that they are aware of the consequence and risks associated with drinking alcohol. Improve general understanding of safe drinking limits and the law relating to the sale of alcohol to young people. Develop a responsible retailing ethos and effective partnership approach in the CAP area that embraces Challenge 25 and acceptance of PASS. The CAP approach recognises that enforcement can only partly achieve the vision – education is key and retail is part of the solution, not part of the problem Working in partnership enables stakeholders to share knowledge, expertise and resources CAP activity complements the existing work of stakeholders without increasing resources in the long term By working together, far more can be achieved than by working in isolation

I am pleased to report an 80%+ reduction in seized alcohol along with a reduction in alcohol related disorder.
