November Lesson Topics:
Respect- We will build on our bullying lessons by teaching/reviewing respect within the classrooms. When children are able to treat each other respectfully and respond to direction in a positive way, they are more likely to succeed academically.
Being Assertive- Providing students with the necessary skills and strategies to use assertiveness appropriately can build confidence and foster positive interactions.
Encourage children to use planners to stay organized with assignments
Have a set place for homework like a big desk with all necessary materials available such as pencils, paper, books, and calculators; make sure the area is free of distractions
Sometimes a break may help with concentration during homework time

To ensure your child finds success with homework, there are many things you can do to help! In addition to modeling getting your own work done in a timely fashion and demonstrating organization, you can help by:
Allowing time to re-energize after school through breaks, having a snack, or playing a game before beginning homework
Creating a routine each night using the same time and place
Encourage children to use planners and/or folders to stay organized
Ensure all materials needed are available (pencils, paper, books, etc.) and that the area is free of distractions
* Sometimes a brain break may help with concentration during homework time*
