Active duty members of the regular and reserve components of the U.S. Armed Forces or allied armed forces shall not possess, purchase, or consume alcoholic beverages before they have reached their 18th birthday.  The only valid proof of age is a U.S. Armed Forces Identification Card.  All military members 21 and under are required to attend the SIG 21 Program module.  Attendance this course is mandatory for all U.S. military personnel 21 and under, who are permanently or temporarily assigned aboard NASSIG and tenant commands.
*Legal drinking age for active duty at Naval Air Station Sigonella is 18.
Persons accepting driving privileges will give automatic consent to evidential tests for alcohol or other drug content by their blood, breath, and/or urine sample if lawfully stopped, apprehended, or cited for any offense allegedly committed while driving or in physical control of a motor vehicle on the installation, off-base or while under the influence of intoxicants.
*BAC is less than 0.05%. Person is presumed not under the influence of alcohol.
*BAC is 0.05% but less than 0.099%. Blood alcohol by volume will result in confiscation of their U.S. Forces in Italy operator’s license and they will not be allowed to drive for 12 months. No citation will be issued. To reacquire their operator’s license, an approved chit from their Commanding Officer must be produced.
*BAC is 0.1% or higher will result in immediate loss of driving privileges and may result in disciplinary and/or administrative action.
