3 WHAT’ S EDUCATIONAL ROBOTICS?
Educational Robotics is the educational use of robotic technologies for supporting teaching and learning process. It isn’t a new subject but a new approach to teaching, a method which uses robots. Educational Robotics goes beyond robotics itself, it facilitates the teacher’s task, because it replaces boring lessons with practice, it’ s perceived as a fun activity or a game. It facilitates the socialization between students, also improving the relationship between students and teachers.

4 EDUCATIONAL ROBOTICS AND SOFT SKILLS
COLLABORATION CREATIVITY COMPUTATIONAL THINKING PROBLEM SOLVING EDUCATIONAL ROBOTICS AND SOFT SKILLS EDUCATIONAL ROBOTICS can support individual and collaborative learning activities and be aligned with different objectives and skills. Most robotics curricula are hands-on, encourage students to think and be creative and are based on problem solving. EDUCATIONAL ROBOTICS is a tool for the development of the 21° century skills.

5 PEDAGOGICAL THEORIES PIAGET
The theory of constructivism states that learnt knowledge is shaped by what the learners know and experience PAPERT Papert adds to this by introducing the notion of constructionism, which states that learning occurs when a student constructs a physical artefact and reflects on his/her problem solving experience based on the motivation to build the artefact

6 WHAT’ S A ROBOT? A robot is a mechanical device which can be programmed to follow a set of instructions. The robot has a processing unit, sensors to perceive its environment, motors and actuators to move its limbs or wheels. It may speak, make other sounds or flash with lights and colours. Robots need the ability to follow programmed instructions and not just be controlled remotely.

7 The Scribbler is a small programmable intelligent robot with multiple sensor systems. It is able of auto navigation and interaction with its environment. It can be programmed through a specific software. SCRIBBLER

8 LEGO MINDSTORM EV3 LEGO WEDO is a robot which includes blocks to be assembled, motors and sensors for movement and rotation. You can create robot and it can be programmed by a specific software which uses a language with blocks very simple and intuitive.

9 LEARNING APPROACH It’s based on four phases through which students are free to experiment and explore Students are encouraged to collaborate while doing activities The teacher's role is to facilitate the implementation of cooperative proposals, to guide, never to transmit

10 HANDS- ON.. MINDS- ON CONNECT: capturing students’ interest is the key to learning CONSTRUCT: engage both hands and minds to solve the given mission CONTEMPLATE: predict and reflect the outcome of activities to retain learnings CONTINUE: taking on more difficult challenges to enter a positive learning spiral The «fourCs» of learning is a good way to express the Educational robotics approach. This process contains four phases: four steps in a process which is iterative and should be seen as a spiral….. …NEW CHALLENGES for a NEW POSITIVE LEARNING
