3. Policies Related to Student Behavior
Two important University policies governing student conduct – behaviorally and academically

4. University Policies
Code of Student Responsibility - University Policy Applies to every student who has accepted admission - Governs student behavioral conduct inside and outside of classroom - Can be applied to off campus behavior - Overseen by Office of Student Conduct (within DSO) - Behaviors reported via online submission: * incidentreport.uncc.edu * by University Police, faculty, staff, other students - Attorney/Non-Attorney Advocate rights - Records protected by FERPA
Behavior within classroom can be addressed through Code of SR, depending on TYPE of behavior
At the very least, we reserve the right to have an “educational conversation” with a student if their behavior does not rise to the level of a Code of SR violation
Conduct violations can be adjudicated by a single administrator, or by SGA Judicial Board, or Administrative Hearing Panel
Conduct records are covered by the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act which protects the student’s educational records unless:

Code of Student Responsibility - If a student has displayed behavior you suspect is a violation: * contact the Office of Student Conduct to discuss; * submit online incident report incidentreport.uncc.edu - If the behavior is an immediate threat, call Campus Police at A staff member from the DSO may contact you for additional information about the incident - Based upon information gathered, we will determine if a violation occurred and how to proceed - Educational conversation vs. conduct

Code of Academic Integrity - University Policy Governs academic coursework - Overseen by Academic Affairs *Bruce Long, Chair of Academic Integrity Board - Record keeping maintained by DSO *faculty contact DSO to inquire about priors - Adjudication options: * Settlement Form * Academic Integrity Board
- Submitting faculty member does have an educational need to know the outcome of the AIB due to the nature of the student-faculty relationship as it pertains to grading

7. Code of Academic Integrity - If you suspect a student has committed a violation: * call DSO for prior history - If no prior, and penalty is less than FX, SU or EX * proceed with offer of a Settlement Form * one per student for entire academic career! * student must sign in agreement * student can request AI Board - If prior, or penalty sought is FX, SU or EX * refer to Bruce Long for AI Board * faculty member will be required to provide information in front of Board

Campus Behavioral Intervention Team - Options if a student is exhibiting behaviors that are concerning to you: * Contact the Dean of Students Office to consult * Call the Counseling Center to consult *Report an incident via incidentreport.uncc.edu * If an immediate threat call Campus Police - A Dean of Students staff member will reach out to you for further information and determine how to proceed
