The Nature of Harmony Melodic Motion Unit 4 – Four Part Writing and Principles of Voice Leading Content Vocabulary: Rhythm Notation Duration Duple Triple Whole and half step Tonic Key signature Triad Seventh chord Inversion Voice leading Cross-motion Octave Leaps Fifths and Octaves Essential Understandings: Students will read and notate music and demonstrate the ability to read an instrumental or vocal score up to 4 staves by describing how the elements of music are used. Students will listen to, describe and analyze music and demonstrate extensive knowledge of the technical vocabulary of music. Students will compose and arrange music for voices and various acoustic and electronic instruments, demonstrating knowledge of the ranges and traditional use of sound sources.
