3 Attitudes – yours and your employees!
An Attitude is a strong belief or feeling toward people, things, or situations. Attitudes are not quick reactions that can change easily – but they can be changed Employers place a great emphasis on attitude

Take the test! Theory X – Attitudes hold that employees dislike work and must be closely supervised to get them to do their work Theory Y – Attitudes hold that employees like to work and do not need to be closely supervised to get them to do their work Y = Higher job satisfaction, not always higher levels of productivity

6 Management Attitudes & Employee performance
Managers attitudes and the way they treat employees affect employees’ job behavior and performance. This research is called the Pygmalion effect Pygmalion effect states that supervisors’ attitudes and expectations of employees and how they treat them largely determine their performance. Positive expectations = High performance Low expectations = low performance

7 Changing attitudes Take the test!
What type would your rather work with and for? You may not be able to change others, but you can start with your own!

8 How to change your attitude as the boss
Remember what you think affects how you feel. Choose to be happy! Be aware of your attitude Look for the positive, catch yourself when you begin to be negative. Realize there are few (if any) benefits from having a negative attitude Keep an open mind “think and act like a winner and you will become one”
