Don’t just say it. Be it.

2 Before we define “Responsibility”… 1st , Watch the video 2nd, Listen for the Quotes (#1,2) 3rd, Discuss! Quote #1: “You started looking for someone to blame.” Quote #2: “Until you start believing in yourself it ain’t gonna happen in life.” (2.5 min)

3 Responsibility, defined…
Worksheet #1 Responsibility, defined… Accountability for one’s actions; answerable. Following through with an obligation. The quality of being dependable. How does this patriot demonstrate responsibility?

4 Worksheet #2 1st, Who are you responsible to? We’re all answerable to someone. In the bubbles, list the people “upstream” from you and write down their titles.

5 Worksheet #3 2nd, Who are you responsible for? Use the chart to list the people in your life who are most dependant upon you coming through for them. What do they depend on you for?

6 Worksheet #4 3rd, What are you responsible for? Use the chart to list the tasks that don’t get done if YOU don’t do them.

Q: What do irresponsible children grow up to be? A: Irresponsible parents, politicians, sports figures, teachers, preachers, movie/TV personalities, lawyers… Q: What kinds of behaviors make up irresponsible behaviors? A: This answer could go on forever! Check the clip… (7 min)

Worksheet #9 April Character Trait: RESPONSIBILITY Bringing it home to Gateway Responsible behaviors on your campus include: Punctual- on time, every time Thorough- every assignment complete to the best of your ability Thoughtful- kind, respectful, and courteous relationships Hygienic- willing to clean up your area in class and outside, and to refrain from spitting…at all times Professional- a personal zero-tolerance for drug/gang/sexually explicit language & behavior, including profanity Sensitive- to the space, needs, and feelings of others Irresponsible behaviors on your campus include: Tardy- uncaring about the time & preparation of others Incomplete- half-baked or missing assignments Selfish- aware and caring only for oneself Sloppy- leaving a mess in your area, and willing to let others clean up after you. Uncaring of the infectious nature of spitting in public Immature- excessive drug/gang/ sexual language & behavior, including profanity Uncaring- of others Now let’s see you compose your own “Bringing it home” chart, worksheet #9. Let’s fill our campus with Responsible students!
