2. The Simple Sentence
A simple sentence is a sentence that has one subject-verb pair (independent clause)
I live in Gaza.

3. The Compound Sentence
A compound sentence contains two sentences that are joined together by a comma and a coordinating conjunction.
She works in the city, but she lives in the suburbs.

CAUTION!
Do NOT use a comma every time you use the words and, or, but, nor, for, so, yet. Use a comma only when the coordinating conjunction joins two simple sentences.
