1. Year 2 Parents Meeting

2. A day in Year 2

3. Morning routine
School starts at 8.55 children are welcomed into class from 8:45.
When children come in early they are given a task to complete.
We are both available each morning if you don’t see us on the playground please come and see us at the resource area door.

4. Evening routine 2JB will be dismissed from the resource area door.
2AH will be released from the cloakroom door.
We will not dismiss your child until they see you!
We are both available to speak to you each evening. Any queries don’t hesitate to come and speak to us.

5. Transition from Year 1 Children work in two classes in the morning
Topic afternoons are made up of groups from the 2 classes completing different activities.

6. PE Tuesday ( Wednesday morning this half term) and Friday
Children will need a complete school PE kit.
(Blue shorts, white T-shirt, pumps or trainers)
In the winter months the children will need a plain tracksuit
Top buttons.

7. Reading in Year 2 Important part of the curriculum.
Every night for 5 mins
Conversation about the text is just as important.
A book doesn’t need to be finished every night.
Books should be handed in everyday even if they have not been finished.

Star of the week

9. Homework 2 pieces set on a Friday.
About 20 mins to be spent on homework.
Maths & SPAG/English or Topic.
To be handed in by Thursday every week.
Reflect work we have completed or are about to complete in class.

10. SATs Tests in Reading, Writing, Maths and SPAG.
They will be completed in May.
There will be a further SATs meeting after Christmas.
Our focus at the moment is getting children settled into Year 2.

New to Year 2 is a weekly newsletter on the website.
