Explanation of Math Courses:
Math 9 is the math course that most Grade 9's will take at Centennial. Some students may need LEC and/or tutorial support Math 9/10 Accelerated is designed for students who are excellent math students who are interested in taking higher level math courses

Foundation of Math and Pre-Calculus 10 usually follows math 9 and leads directly to the academic math that will be required for direct entry into university and many post-secondary programs

A student who finds math very difficult, you might receive Learning Centre (LEC) support or Numeracy 9 instead of Math 9. A student who does not satisfactorily complete the Math 9 course requirements due to attendance, effort or work completion issues, will repeat the course at summer school or in Grade 10. A student may, with teacher recommendation, go directly into Workplace Math 10 in grade 10

Mathematically advanced students are encouraged to take the challenge exam for mathematics 9. The first sitting of this exam was on January 25th at Centennial. Students who are successful in this exam will be able to take Math 9/10 Accelerated in Grade 9

Students who continue to excel in this accelerated math program will be able to take AP Calculus or even register for a Douglas College or SFU math course in grade 12 This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY-ND
