3 Children are to line up in the middle playground at 8.45am.
Daily Routine Children are to line up in the middle playground at 8.45am. Teachers collect their classes and take to classroom for early morning work. If there will be anybody different picking up your child please ensure that you inform your child’s teacher. Please encourage your child to wait in the classroom until they have been called to the door to meet whoever is collecting them. All children are to be collected from their classrooms located in the year 2 corridor.

4 Fruit A fruit snack is provided by the school at morning break, but not afternoon break. Water Bottles All children should have their own labelled water bottle in school. Allergies/medical conditions Please ensure that we are aware of any allergies as children like to bring in treats for their birthdays.

5 School uniform and PE kits
All labelled please! PE kits should be brought into school on Mondays and remain in school all week. PE Days are different for each class so please check on information boards. In the winter – Please ensure children have appropriate outdoor shoes and warmer clothing.

6 Day trips We like to enrich the curriculum with a variety of trips, for example, this year we have been to: Trip Cost Film festival £2.80 Reading museum £16 Sea Life Centre £19

7 Reading books Reading books will be sent home and we ask that you read with your child daily. Please look after the books and ensure they are returned. You can return your books on any day once they have been read and discussed at home. Please ensure that you indicate in the reading log that the book(s) have been read. There are boxes labelled “reading books” in each class. Please keep up daily reading during the summer holidays.

8 Homework One piece of phonics homework weekly and this will closely link to the phonics sounds or spelling patterns being taught. Other homework will be set as required, this will usually be a piece of maths/topic homework. Homework is set on a Friday and will need to be returned by Wednesday. Reading daily is also part of year two homework. You will find spare letters and copies of homework outside classrooms.

9 Phonics As in year 1, children are taught across the year group for phonics so may be taught by a different teacher. Children are continually assessed and may move groups, if necessary.

10 Statutory Attainment Tests (SATs)
This year the children have taken SATs papers in: Arithmetic Mathematical Reasoning Reading – 2 papers The children do not know that they are taking statutory tests! We never refer to them as tests and the children generally enjoy doing them. They are well prepared! The final judgement about whether they are working towards the expected level, at the expected level or exceeding the expected level is completely down to our teacher judgement. We take lots of different evidence into account to come to our final judgement.
