6 Classroom Guidelines We will develop our classroom guidelines together to help all of us to be successful, safe, and caring. Think about what guidelines will make it easier to be successful, safe, and caring… Type in your classroom rules. -

12 This year’s subjects

13 Morning Work Morning work is center-based. You will choose the activity/practice area for your learning needs daily. Each day you will choose the way that you read, write, and think while completing learning activities and projects. Insert info or delete slide. -

14 Language Arts We will learn about ways to make us better writers using figurative language, grammar, and spelling. As writers you will plan, write, edit, revise, and then publish your writing. We have computers ready to type and publish your writing. We will also make class books to share. Insert info or delete slide. -

15 Reading Reading lessons will help to build your toolbox of strategies and skills. IDR-individualized daily reading is a time for you to practice the skills and strategies that you are learning. Reading conferences will be a time for Mrs. McGuire to support you as readers and thinkers. Insert info or delete slide. -

16 Flexible Seating Each day you will choose the best seat and the best way for your body and brain to learn. We will work on guidelines to do our best in each seating area. Mrs. McGuire can move anyone at any time- to keep you focused. Insert info or delete slide. -

17 Class Snacks and Treats
Learning is hard work and our brains need fuel! We will have a ‘nibble’ (small snack) each day-cereal, crackers, etc. We will make a specific snack each month that is related to a holiday or social studies learning. Students who make their AR goal each month will be invited to “Tea Time Tuesdays” with me. Insert info or delete slide. -

18 Computers and I-PADS Computers and I-PADS are available for learning activities and projects, to take AR tests, and to type and publish your writing. Insert info or delete slide. -

19 Homework *Reading/Writing *Spelling

20 Homework ****You will have reading homework NIGHTLY! You must read for minutes and complete your Reading Response Log. Each week you will choose a reader to keep for the week.
