3. What is Afghan Star really?? So… Afghan Star is a popular reality television show which searches for the most talented singer in Afghanistan. The program is broadcast on the Afghan ToloTV channel.(ToloTV is the most favourite TV channel in Afghanistan since it started to broadcast Afghan Star) The format of Afghan Star is similar to the British Pop Idol or the American Americas got talent. The program starts with auditions from singers in their late teens and early 20s. A panel of judges chooses the best auditions. After this the viewers vote for which singer is the best in their opinion. In every round, whoever gets the lowest amount of votes leaves the show until just one is left who is the WINNER! Afghans Star has 5 seasons up to now.

5. First season The first season of Afghan Star was launched in September 2005,with over 1000 hopefuls around Afghanistan. Shaked Hamdarb Kabul Mashalla The winner of the series was Shaked Hamdarb from Kabul who released his debut album Mashalla in 2007.

6. Second season Mazar Najibullah Mahmoudi. Afghan Star season two started in August 2006 with auditions in Kabul, Mazar, Herat, Kandahar, Jalalabad and Peshawar. The second Afghan Star was even more successful than the first. The winner was a 35-year- old man from Mazar. He is called Najibullah Mahmoudi.

7. Third season KunduzGhanzi 11 million Rafi NaabzadaMazar The third season of Afghan Star debuted in October 2007. Auditions were held in Kunduz and Ghanzi. At this stage, Afghan Star became one of the most watched shows on Afghan television. Regulalry 11 million viewers per episode. The winner of the series of Afghan Star was Rafi Naabzada, once again from Mazar. He has the most successful career of singers whos won in this show.

8. Fourth season Lima Sarah Jalalabad. The fourth season of Afghan Star debuted in December 2008. Started an extra show broadcast per week. The ultimate winner of the season was Lima Sarah from Jalalabad.

9. Last (fifth) season Wali Sazesh Heart Afghan Stars fifth season started in October 2009. Auditions were conducted from all the cities visited in previous seasons. Wali Sazesh, a student from Heart was the winner of the series.

10. Something about season 6 Ustad Arman, Wajiha RastagarQaasim Ramishgar After incredible 5 seasons, Afghan Star started his sixth season. Bigger, brighter and more surprises along the way. Kabul auditions were completed with over 5.000 registrations. Judges for the sixth seasonare: Ustad Arman, Wajiha Rastagar and Qaasim Ramishgar. In the reality show Afghan Star between auditions the women´s rate is lower then 3%.

In my opinion… Afghan Star is a very little television show next to American Idol or X- Faktor, but in this country, where the war is run everyday, this is a very big thing for people who want to achieve their dreams. In this country men have big benefit in everything because women live under oppression. Women cant dance in public, cant show their faces in front of men.Unfortunately, this is a very obscurantist county. But this fact that they did a reality show in this country I think this is a very considerable thing. With this they were given a chance for all to make reality from dreams. There was an incident that one woman started to dance and showed her face. Everyone was indignant from this. They said –She did a very bad thing –We should cut off her throat also they disowned her from the city. When Lima Sarah won the fourth season millions of people were indignant.How it can be possible!? The biggest problem is the thinking of human. Thats why this country is at the place where it is.But at least they tried to do change. This is my opinion about Afghan Star.
