4. Cell Membrane The cell membrane let's materials in and out of the cell
The cell membrane would be like the doors on the car as they let things in and out of the car

5. Cell wall
The cell wall in a cell is a barrier that protects the cell from damage
This is like the metal body of a car the protects the inside of the car from rocks and dirt

6. Nucleus
1. The nucleus in a cell contains instructions for everything a cell does
2. In a car the computer controls the car’s main systems (ie, engine control, anit-skid, climate control,etc.)

7. Lysosome In a cell, the lysosomes break down molecules and wastes
In a car the catalytic converter breaks down exaust into a less potent mixture

8. Mitochondria In a cell, mitochondria release energy from food
In a car an engine releases energy from gas

9. Endoplasmic Reticulum
In a cell, the ER moves materials around
In a car the air conditioning unit moves air around the entire car

10. Cytoplasm In a cell cytoplasm supports the organelles
The engine mounts support the engine in a car

11. Vacuoles Vacuoles are temporary storage spaces in a cell
In a car the gas tank stores gas until it is used

12. Ribosomes In a cell the ribosomes create proteins for cell activities
In a car the alternator creates electricity to make the car’s electrical systems run

13. Golgi body
In a cell the Golgi body packages and moves materials outside of a cell
In a car the exhaust system moves the car’s waste products out of the engine

14. Nucleolus In a cell the nucleolus makes ribosomes
In a car the belt drives the alternator and the alternator could not produce electricity without it

15. Nuclear membrane In a cell the nuclear membrane protects the nucleus
The computer case in a car protects the car computer. The computer is also located in a location where it is protected under normal driving conditions. The nucleus in a cell is also positioned in this way.

16. Cytoskeleton
In a cell the cytoskeleton helps support the cell and helps the cell maintain its shape
In a car the frame helps the car to maintain shape under pressure and keeps the people inside from being crushed

17. Centrioles
In a cell the centrioles are support columns of the cytoskeleton
In a car the shocks support the frame so it doesn’t take the full weight of the car on a bump or impact

18. Chromosomes In a cell chromosomes are groups of DNA
The coding of a computer in a car tells the car what to do
