2 Question: What is an antecedent?
Answer: The word to which a pronoun refers to One of the film projectors is broken. It is being repaired.

3 A pronoun should agree in number, gender, and person to its antecedent.

4 Singular pronouns refer to singular antecedents
Arthur Miller founded his own ballet company. Plural pronouns refer to plural antecedents Raccoons often dunk their food in water before eating.

5 Some singular pronouns indicate gender.
Rudolfo stated his position clearly. Maxine prepared her acceptance speech. The river overflowed its banks.

6 Person indicates whether a pronoun refers to the one speaking, spoken to, or spoken about.
1st person : I, my 2nd person: you, your 3rd person: He, they, their

7 Some indefinite pronouns are singular, some are plural, and some can be either singular or plural, depending on how they are used in a sentence.

8 Use a singular pronoun to refer to the following antecedents:
Neither Nobody No one Nothing One Somebody Someone Something Anybody Anyone Anything Each Either Everybody Everyone Everything

9 Someone left a pair of shoes on the boys’ locker room floor, and he better pick them up before the coach sees them.

10 Each person should choose his or her college carefully.
When a singular antecedent may be either masculine or feminine, use both the masculine and feminine forms, connected by or. Each person should choose his or her college carefully.

11 In informal situations, plural pronouns are often used to refer to singular antecedents that can be either masculine or feminine. Everybody stayed late at the dance because they were enjoying themselves.

12 Use a plural pronoun to refer to the following indefinite pronouns:

14 The indefinite pronouns all, any, more, most, none and some may be singular or plural, depending in their meaning in a sentence: All of the water has melted; it is pooling in the valley. All of the streams are full; they are rushing torrents.

15 Use a singular pronoun to refer to two or more singular antecedents joined by or or nor:
Neither Richard nor Bob distinguished himself in the finals.

16 Use a plural pronoun to refer to two or more antecedents joined by and:
Mom and Dad celebrated their twentieth wedding anniversary yesterday.

17 Don’t be mislead when a clause or a phrase begins with a compound preposition:
Along with, as well as, in addition to, together with They do not affect the number of the subject The teacher, as well as her students, (was, were) fascinated by the exhibit.
