2 What is a Chromebook? Chromebook is a different breed of computer. It runs on Google's web-based Chrome OS, which is designed to be used with an Internet connection. Most of Chromebook's documents and apps exist in the cloud.

3 Start Up Push the power button to start up the Chromebook
Prompt to log in Use student ID & PW Log in: PW: firstname

4 What’s New No Icons on the desktop instead apps like Google chrome are on the shelf. Out with the window Icon and in with the Bullseye!

Tap lower of the touchpad Right-click Two finger tap, Alt + click Scroll Two finger up & down, left & right Move between pages Two finger swipe See all open windows Three finger swipe up & down Close a tab Point to tab, three finger tap Drag & Drop Click and hold + Drag & release

7 Technology Norms No food or drink near devices
Carrying the Chromebook: Closed and secured Cleaning - no water or chemicals, no paper towels Screen cleaning cloths Only use the Chromebook assigned to you Treat it with care - no stickers or personalizing Follow classroom/building norms Use Chromebook only when instructed Failure to follow the technology norms and guidelines may impact your use of the Chromebook

8 Online Etiquette Word usage should be appropriate for school
All online communication is monitored Vulgarity and profanity will not be tolerated Cyberbullying will not be tolerated Be kind, be respectful Student Manual violations apply to the Chromebooks Follow teacher instructions Ex. “1-2-3, eyes on me” + “Screens down and check in”

9 Technology Expectations
You are NOT ALLOWED to take your device out of this building. There is a geofence around the building and when the device is taken off school property, the District Technology department is immediately notified The device is the property of the District. You are not allowed to put stickers on the device in any way You have the same device for the entire time you are at Bayard (TAKE CARE OF IT) District will monitor student usage of each device All District and building rules apply online in terms of bullying, language, appropriate use, etc

10 Chromebook for Students
This Chromebook will follow you through your school grades 6-8 Each Chromebook is assigned to an individual student. In order for your Chromebook to last you must take care of your device. The Chromebook is a learning tool to help you Interact with what you are learning Using the Chromebooks will be new to all of us. Please be patient, it will take some time to get use to using the new technology.
