Updating Plans

6 Updating Formative Checks in CIIPs
Board Goals Target Areas Measureable Evaluation Criteria (Summative) Performance Objectives / Strategies Formative Check Point(s) Timeline / Responsible Person(s) Cost / Resources List #’s addressed separated by “, “ Subject, area of focus Summative in nature (using state assessment whenever possible) – specific number/goal must be included. Be sure that indicator directly relates to the performance objective/goal listed. Must have – Objective that will address the area of focus and needs assessment followed by a connecting word such as “by”, “through”, etc and then strategy/strategies to reach that goal/objective. How will you check/monitor progress towards your goal? Month year – Month year Titles only (no names) If no funds are needed, leave blank or type n/a Check Point Dec Feb The district and campus templates has been adjusted to include a place for formative check points. The measureable criteria (how you will measure success), has been moved to the beginning after target areas. The timeline has been combined with the responsible person to make room for the formative check points. You can use any available data to measure progress towards your summative goal and you can adjust the months to meet your needs. In the past we have discouraged benchmarks, lesson plans, walk through as a summative measure of progress. Now you can use those in the formative column to monitor progress.

7 Clarify the meanings of the formative check options currently available on the 2018-19 CIIPs.
üá for Exceeded Expectations ü for Met Expectations û Did Not Meet Expectations

8 For the remainder of this year -
üá for Exceeded Expectations (Means: completed the formative check and progress exceeds expectations for this point in the year) ü for Met Expectations (Means: completed the formative check and making progress towards goals) û Did Not Meet Expectations (Means: did not complete the formative check and/or did not make expected progress towards goals) For the CIIPs we can change the wording of the formative checks -

9 If you have any suggestions for these please email BranDe Merriman
ü for Exceeded Expectations (Means: completed the formative check and progress exceeds expectations for this point in the year) üá for Met Expectations (Means: completed the formative check and met expected goals for this time of the year) ü for Progressing (Means: completed the formative check and progressing towards goals) û Did Not Meet Expectations (Means: did not complete the formative check or did not make any progress towards goals) If you have any suggestions for these please BranDe Merriman

Pilot Program Available to all tested grade levels Spanish items Multiple attempts Known format Reliability of questions Additional Embedded Supports (besides TTS) Predictability for STAAR performance Pilot Program Available to all tested grade levels Spanish items Multiple attempts Known format Reliability Questions Additional Embedded Supports (besides TTS) Predictability for STAAR performance Last year's interim assessments predicted the student's score correctly about 79-87% of the time. When the prediction was incorrect, the student scored better than predicted 84% of the time.

13 Inform teachers of the options
What is Next? Inform teachers of the options Opportunity 1 is still available Opportunity 2 opens today Some teachers may be considering a Mock STAAR type assessment after the 2nd benchmark. Since they have had access to the STAAR items in Aware all year, perhaps this may be another option. CTC’s have been trained QUESTIONS?
