6  What is Reading Club?  What to expect while your child is in the program READING CLUB

7  Reading Club (Title I) is a federally funded program to provide supplemental reading instruction.  Title I funding provides extra resources and academic support to students in kindergarten through 5 th grade. WHAT IS READING CLUB?

8 TITLE I IN THE DISTRICT  Funding is based on the number of students in the district who qualify for Free/Reduced lunch.  3 of our 5 elementary schools provide Title I services. Each Center Grove school chooses which grades to target for supplemental reading instruction.

9  Instruction in all areas of reading:  Comprehension  Vocabulary  Phonics  Phonemic Awareness  Fluency  Small group 30 minutes daily (LLI)  Set reading goals  Monitor and assess growth  Collaboration with classroom teacher SERVICES PROVIDED

10  AIMSweb: District’s universal screener and progress monitoring tool for students in grades K-8.  Progress monitoring frequency : Every other week  Email updates: Progress monitor updates will be sent to email addresses submitted to Miss Smith or to email addresses listed on Skyward.  If you wish to provide a different email address, please feel free to include it on your exit slip tonight. PROGRESS MONITORING

11  How long do students stay in the program? Each child's learning progresses at a different rate. A child may stay in the program 6 weeks, one semester, an entire academic year, or remain in the program for several years.  What is the exiting criteria?  At least 7 weeks in the program  Child’s rate of improvement meets or exceeds the target rate of improvement. WHEN & HOW DO STUDENTS EXIT?
