The President of the United States The Vice President The Cabinet

3 The President To serve as President, you must be 35 years old, a native born citizen, and live for 14 years in the US The President is officially elected by the Electoral College, who cast their ballots in December of the Election year The president is sworn into office in an inauguration ceremony in January following the election

4 Presidential Duties The President job duties include (but are not limited to)… Sign laws Make treaties Direct the military Appoint justices and the cabinet Grant pardons to criminals

5 Presidential Perks $400,000 a year salary
$100,000 a year “travel account” $19,000- entertainment account Use of Air Force One Use of Marine One- Helicopter Fleet of cars Full staff at White House Personal chef Flower Designer And more $191,300 a year pension Celebrity visits Presidential Perks                                                                                                                                               

6 The Vice President The Vice President has two Constitutional duties: serve as head of the Senate, and, in the case of an accident, determine if the President is unfit to hold office.

7 Presidential Succession
If the President dies, the Vice President takes over, then the Speaker of the House, then the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, then Secretary of State….

8 The Cabinet The President Appoints a special group of advisors called the Cabinet. Each represents a different government department. The cabinet includes the heads of: Education, Labor, Veteran’s Affairs, Homeland Security, the Treasury, and 14 other departments
