1 Unit 3 “Fun” Stations

2 Rules of using MY expensive iPads
Station #1 - iPad STEP 1: Use the iPad to go through the app “Soil Erosion Investigations” STEP 2: Write down what you learn in 3-5 sentences. STEP 3: Draw a picture you saw in the app. Rules of using MY expensive iPads Do not drop Do not throw Sit when using Turn screen off when complete

3 Station #2 - Weathering, Erosion, or Deposition?
Place the cards into THREE piles. Is it weathering, erosion, or deposition? Once complete, write the information in your composition notebook.

4 Station #3 - Chromebooks
Watch the above video, Bill Nye Weathering and Erosion on your OWN chromebook with your own headphones. Don’t have headphones? Talk to your teacher

5 Station #4 - Drawing Think about the features in these pictures.
Match each picture with one of the four agents of erosion (water, wind, ice, waves and gravity). Draw each picture in your interactive notebook and label the features and type of erosion that created it. 5

6 Station #5 - Word Search / Crossword
STEP 1: Glue into composition notebook or hole punch and place with notes in binder. STEP 2: Complete the word search or crossword puzzle provided. One copy per student.

7 Station #6 - Brochure STEP 1: One paper per student.
STEP 2: Write the definition of weathering, erosion, and deposition in the lines provided. STEP 3: Draw weathering, erosion, and deposition in the square boxes. STEP 4: In the boxes on the right column, draw a cartoon comic showing a story about what you just learned. STEP 5: Glue into your notebook and write your name on it.

8 Station #7 - Mechanical Weathering Experiment Soil
STEP 1: Take ONE cup per group. Use the sharpie to write your names on the cup. STEP 2: Take one piece of food from your lunch (such as a M&M, taki, skittle, etc) - - Don’t have? Talk to your teacher. STEP 3: Use your teacher’s badge to go outside and cover your item with dirt from the outdoors. STEP 4: Come in and wash your hands. STEP 5: What do you think your food will look like in 1 week? 3 weeks? STEP 6: Draw STEP 5 in your composition notebook.

9 Station #8 - Whiteboard STEP 1: Each student in the group gets a marker. STEP 2: Draw the differences between mechanical weathering and chemical weathering. Use the textbook or your notes to help you understand the difference. STEP 3: Show your completed drawing to the teacher. STEP 4: Draw your groups work in your interactive notebook using the colors provided or your own coloring utensils. STEP 5: Use at least 5 colors.

10 Station #9 - Smart Board STEP 1: Each group member gets a smart pen to draw with. STEP 2: Draw the differences between erosion, deposition, and weathering. Use your notes or the textbook if you are confused. STEP 3: Show your teacher the completed drawing. STEP 4: Draw your groups work in your interactive notebook using the colors provided or your own coloring utensils. STEP 5: Use at least 5 colors.

12 Station #11 - Mechanical Weathering Experiment Water

STEP 3: Fill the cup with water from the bathroom. STEP 4: What do you think your food will look like in 1 week? 3 weeks? STEP 5: Draw STEP 5 in your composition notebook.

13 Station #12 - ABC’s of Weathering, Erosion, Deposition, and Soil
STEP 1: Each person takes STEP 2: Staple together on the edge using ONE staple so it looks like a flipbook. STEP 3: On the front cover, write the title “ABC’s of Weathering, Erosion, Deposition, and Soil by _your name goes here ” STEP 4: Using your notes, vocabulary, and the textbook create an ABC flipbook of terms for this unit. You must use EVERY letter of the alphabet. You must use back and front to have enough pages. STEP 5: If you have time, draw something on each page using colors.

14 Station #13 - Giant Paper STEP 1: Write your group members names on the giant paper provided. STEP 2: Draw the various layers of soil as a giant picture on the paper. ALL group members must help. STEP 3: Color the drawing and label it. STEP 4: Draw the final product in your composition notebook. *Don’t know what the layers are? Use your notes! Not in your notes? Use the textbook.

15 Station #14 - Catch Up Station
STEP 1: Set the timer provided for 5 minutes. STEP 2: You can do any ONE of the following at this station Read Catch up on missing stations while sitting here Complete paper homework only

16 Station #15 - Quizizz or Kahoot
*TWO groups must do this at the SAME time in order to come to this station. Ms. Greenberg will setup a quizizz / Kahoot game for your group to join. The TEACHER gets to pick which to complete, not the student.

17 Station #16 - Merit Badge STEP 1: Create a list of 20 vocabulary terms and topics from our current unit in your composition notebook. STEP 2: Define these terms using three or less words. STEP 3: Read your terms to your groupmate and see if you came up with any of the same ones! STEP 4: Whichever groupmate comes up with more words and sensible definitions wins FOUR tickets. Please come up to me when I’m at my desk to claim your tickets.
