Grades/Grading Example:
SEM 1 grade % x 80% + Exam % x 20% = Semester 1 Final Grade SEM 2 grade % x 80% + Exam % x 20% = Semester 2 Final Grade Credits 1 semester class = .5 credit 2 semester classes = 1 credit * In order to receive credit for a class the grade earned must be a D- or above. GPA (Grade Point Average) The average of a students semester grades, starting with 9th grade year. Goes on your transcript and colleges will look at your GPA when admitting students. If you fail a class you have options for recovery, but not a lot of wiggle room. Retake the class at SLHS for free and the failing grade is replaced. Summer School (about $250 per semester) refer to other close districts like Novi. Both grades are on the transcript. 1 credit total Online (about $250 per semester) if you pass it is a G on your transcript to show you have earned the credit, but does not impact your GPA. 2 courses per semester (1 credit) Testing Out (G on transcript shows that you have earned credit) *

Testing PSAT SAT ACT ASVAB (Military)
9th & 10th (Spring) -11th Graders (Fall) National Merit Scholarships (Junior yr.) SAT 11th Grade (Spring) Scale of *** Use Khan Academy for SAT test practice ACT Composite of 1-36 ASVAB (Military) Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery The exact PSAT score for National Merit consideration varies from year to year and by state, but it's always the top 1% of students (about 16,000 juniors) who qualify as Semifinalists. About 15,000 students in this group then move on to become National Merit Finalists and win scholarship money. To be named a Semifinalist, you need to score in the top 1% of your state — not the whole country. Only Juniors and scores vary from year to year based on national scores – find out beginning of your senior year. Can take SAT more than once, but school only pays for the Spring test.

Other Information MME (Michigan Merit Exam) AP classes Testing Out
Who? What? When? AP classes How many do we offer? When can I take an AP class? Testing Out What percentage do I have to earn? Does the percentage go on my transcript? If you test out of a class, does it impact my GPA? The Michigan Merit Examination (MME) assesses students in grade 11 and eligible students in grade 12 based on Michigan high school standards. It is administered each spring, and consists of three components: SAT, ACT WorkKeys job skills assessments, and M-STEP; Given over 3 days AP – 13 classes offered, 12 each year (World/American History alternate years); can take starting in junior and senior year Testing Out – 78% or higher; % does not go on transcript (just granted CR); does not impact GPA
