2 Verbos regulares Verbs whose INFINITIVES end in –ar, -er, and –ir follow a pattern when conjugated. The endings show who is doing the action: (yo) hablo, (tú) comes, nosotros escribimos and so on.

Verbos regulares Verbs that follow the conjugation patterns are called REGULAR verbs. Por ejemplo: Necesitar Aprender Asistir

4 Verbs that do not follow certain patterns are called IRREGULAR verbs.

5 El verbo IR The verb “ir” is IRREGULAR. It means in English. It is often followed by the preposition a. to go

7 IR (To go) Yo voy Tú vas Ud. Él va Ella
Nosotros vamos Vosotros vais Uds. Ellos van Ellas

8 IR + a place Los estudiantes van a la biblioteca.
Los amigos van al parque. Nosotros vamos al restaurante. What do you notice about the 2nd and 3rd example?

9 IR + un lugar Don’t forget when it is necessary to say “to the” after conjugating IR 4 ways: a + el (al), a la, a los, a las

10 Ir + a + INFINITIVE We use a form of the verb ir + a + infinitive to tell what someone is going to do.

11 IR + a + INFINITIVE Yo voy a nadar. Y tu, ¿vas a jugar fútbol?
I’m going to swim. And you, are you going to play soccer?

12 Ellos van al restaurante. Ustedes van al gimnasio.
Para practicar I go to the park. You go to the churches. He goes to the pool. We go to the city centers. They go to the restaurant. You all (informal) go to the gym. Yo voy al parque. Tú vas a las iglesias. Él va a la piscina. Nosotros vamos a los centros. Ellos van al restaurante. Ustedes van al gimnasio.

I am going to swim You are going to swim. He is going to swim. We are going to swim. They are going to swim. You all (informal) are going to swim. Yo voy a nadar. Tú vas a nadar. Él va a nadar. Nosotros vamos a nadar. Ellos van a nadar. Ustedes van a nadar.

14 Para practicar I am going to go to the park.
We are going to go to the gym. They (uds.) are going to go to the church. The students are going to go to museum.
