2. Pre-Session Exercise – Behavioral Disorders
As preparation for the WebEx session you will be having on the topic of Behavioral Disorders, we expect that you will be doing the following:
Read the mhGAP-IG chapter on Behavioral Disorders carefully. This will maximize your learning from the expert presenter
Prepare the questions on the following slides, which will be briefly discussed in the online WebEx session.
You will also receive the following articles to review: ADHD1, ADHD2, and you may refer to relevant parts of ADHD3.

3. Problem behaviours- Case 1
Azeez is 7 years old. He is not able to sit still for more than few minutes, both at home and at school
He never finishes anything, be it a game or homework
What would people from your communities call these problem behaviours?
What advice would they be likely to give to Azeez's parents?
Allow the participants to share their views for a maximum of 5 minutes.
If any term with negative connotation is being locally used, explore alternative ways to refer to these problems.
Explain that you will discuss advice for parents later in the module.

4. Problem behaviours- Case 2
John, a 13 year old boy, has been skipping lessons over the last few months and has stolen quite a large amount of money from home
According to his teachers, he is aggressive with other classmates and difficult to manage.
Do you know any adolescents with similar problem behaviour?
Did they/their parents seek help at the health facility?
Ask the group for examples and discuss any help-seeking behaviour (limit discussion to max 5 minutes)
