3 Weekly Web Chatting Meetings Each week during the Pre-Institute web chatting meetings, your adjunct instructor will: Review the week’s lesson Answer questions about the lesson’s concepts Review assigned practice sets Update you on information about the Institute

4 Getting Ready The Oracle Academy team is committed to your success! However, your success will depend on your commitment to being ready for the first week’s web chatting lesson as well as for each of the following Pre-Institute weekly sessions. Here’s where to start.. Identify an email account that you can access from work or home Begin thinking of a “best” day of the week that you can attend the weekly web chatting sessions. Each session will be approximately 60 minutes. Attendance is mandatory! Identify a computer with high speed Internet connectivity that you can use to participate in the weekly web conferences. 5 To get your computer ready… How to get the Java component, if needed Go to http://java.com/en/ Select Download Now>>Java Runtime Environment Version 5.0 Update 6 Follow the install instructions.http://java.com/en/ Enable Active X Controls Right click the Internet Explorer icon and select Properties - then choose the Security tab - then choose the Custom Level button or open the Internet Explorer browser. Select Tools – then Internet Options – then select the Security tab- then choose the Custom Level button. Scroll through the Settings listed and choose the Enable radio button for all items related to Active X Control Temporarily disable all other pop-up blockers You may have disabled pop-ups in your browser. In Internet Explorer click Tools in the menu bar. In the drop-down menu choose pop-up blocker and choose Turn off pop-up blocker.

6 Accessing the Online Curriculum The Oracle Academy curriculum is delivered online at http://academy.oracle.com http://academy.oracle.com During the Pre-Institute, the online curriculum will be your “book”. In order to be able to view the curriculum, however, you will need to have installed on your computer the required Macromedia Flash Player plug-in. You can download it at: http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P 1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash
