3 What is IEEE Sections Congress?
IEEE Sections Congress is the opportunity for IEEE volunteers from around the world to participate in a truly unique event. The congress provides the attendees to increase their leadership skills and to gain a working knowledge of IEEE. It is also a venue to express concerns and opinions through the recommendations process. The recommendations, as voted on by the Section Delegates are presented to the IEEE Board of Directors. 4 IEEE Sections Congress—a History
The first Congress was held in Boston, Massachusetts USA in 1984 with 120 attendees IEEE Sections Congress is held every three years and has grown in size to over 1,000 attendees in 2014 IEEE Sections Congress 2017 will be the 12th IEEE Sections Congress to be held IEEE Sections Congress 2017 will be the first Sections Congress to be held in Region 10 Section Host: New South Wales Sydney, Australia Sections Congress 2017

Increase member engagement and Section vitality Provide training to Develop leadership skills Enable and nurture volunteering efforts Share best practices Learn about available programs Develop partnership opportunities with Technical Activities Provide for networking opportunities at grass-roots level Learn about IEEE products and services

11–13 August 2017 International Convention Centre (ICC) Darling Harbour, Sydney, NSW, Australia New South Wales Section ICC build out on schedule for completion in October 2016. 4/4/2019

9 Who should participate?
At least one delegate from each Section should attend—the Primary Section delegate. The Section’s Executive Committee designates a representative of the Section to attend the Congress. The Primary Section Delegate then shares the acquired knowledge with the members of the Section. Sections Congress 2017

10 Who participated in Sections Congress 2014?
The Numbers: 1,038 attendees 93 Countries 304 Sections/91% represented 32 Technical Societies/Councils represented 10% of attendees are Young Professional Members 50% attending for the first time

11 Sections Congress 2017 Logistics
Registration fee finalized in Q3-2016 Registration site will go live in February 2017 Selected hotels and prices will be available June 2016 Hotels all within 5–10 minute walking distance of ICC Recommendations for partner tours will be made by the Local Organizing Committee Numerous restaurant options available in the Darling Harbour area for all meals and price points

12 SC17 Financial Model for Primary Delegates
MGA will cover costs of all Primary Delegates Estimated average cost per person is US$3,950, including: Four hotel nights Allocation for extra day and meals not provided at ICC Registration Ground transportation Economy class roundtrip airfare (Business class will not be covered)

13 Sections Congress 2014 Recommendations
The Primary Section Delegates voted on the IEEE Sections Congress 2014 Recommendations throughout the congress. Results were shared at the Closing Ceremony.
