1 Reception News – September 2018
Our topic this half term is Super Heroes How you could help at home: If you wanted to you could make a scrap book to show us your favourite super heroes. Talk about the people who are in your family. Staff Ladybirds Class teacher- Miss Bull, Teaching assistants- Miss Picton & Mrs Townsend Dinner lady- Mrs Billingham Butterflies Class teacher- Miss Hetherington. Teaching assistants- Mrs Partridge, Mr McDaid (a.m.) & Mrs Dhokia (PM) Dinner lady- Mrs Brightman PPA cover- Mrs Hancock or Miss Picton Settling In All of the children have made a great start to school and have settled in well. We are very impressed with how busy they are during the day, they particularly enjoy learning outside and building in the construction area. Lots of children have made new friends and they are trying hard to remember their names. Perhaps you could ask them who their friends are? This week we have tried changing for PE, some children were very capable of doing this others needed a little more help and a few wanted the adults to do it for them. We will always help all children but if they could have a practise at getting dressed themselves at home it would be beneficial. You may have noticed each child has a square in the corridor. We will be using these to display home learning. Please bring in any certificates etc. that your child achieves out of school as we can display these too. When you return your home learning please place it in the green tray in Butterflies and red tray in Ladybirds.

2 On a Tuesday you will find Mrs Hancock and Miss Picton in the classrooms, they are staff who cover us each week. Miss Bull and Miss Hetherington are usually in school on these days undertaking planning, assessment and management roles. Any member of staff can help you at any time. Family Phonics sessions will take place each Friday at 8.55a.m – 9.20a.m., These are fun sessions where you can learn with your child. So if you are able to please stay in the classrooms ready to learn with us. These will start on Friday 5th October. Younger siblings are welcome. Reading Books Sorry for the delay in reading books, we were waiting for a delivery of green journals. On Monday we will start to send reading books and journals home. There are some notes on how to use the journal in side of the front cover. Please ask if you are unsure on where to change books. Outdoors We use the outdoor area in all types of weather. Please could you bring a named pair of wellies to be left at school. This helps to protect our carpet and your school shoes. P.E Our P.E day is Wednesday Please make sure your child has a named pair of shorts and t shirt by Monday 1st October. Uniforms All children look really smart in their new uniforms. However, we have noticed that there are some unnamed items. Please can you make sure your child’s name is in all items. We are happy to try and track down mislaid named items, however we cannot ensure that unnamed items will be found.
